Macro Pump provides nutrition tracking, workout and fitness tracking, body-weight and progress tracking, Apple Health step integration, artificial-intelligence-assisted features through Pump Buddy, and a separate Coach Mode that allows users to connect with coaches and use coaching-related functionality.
By using Macro Pump, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Where consent is required by applicable law or Apple's requirements, consent will be requested separately before the applicable information is collected, used, or disclosed.
The information we collect depends on the features you choose to use.
When you create or access an account using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we may receive information such as:
Macro Pump does not receive your Apple or Google account password.
Depending on the information you choose to provide and the features you use, Macro Pump may collect:
Some of this information may be considered sensitive personal information, health information, or fitness information under applicable privacy laws.
Macro Pump may request permission to read daily step count information from Apple Health.
Macro Pump currently requests read-only access to step count. Macro Pump does not use HealthKit to read heart rate, sleep, medical records, blood pressure, weight, workout records, or other HealthKit data types unless the app and this Privacy Policy are expressly updated to state otherwise.
Macro Pump does not write information to Apple Health.
Your authorization is controlled through Apple's Health and privacy controls and may be changed or revoked using your Apple device settings.
Step-count information read from Apple Health may be synchronized with Macro Pump's backend database so that Macro Pump can display and operate step-related features.
If a client accepts a coach's connection request, that acceptance is the client's authorization for the connected coach to view the client's Apple Health-derived step information, alongside the other data categories described on the Coach Connection screen. Macro Pump does not implement a separate, Health-specific consent step for this disclosure — see Section 25 for why this is a deliberate design choice, not an omission. No Apple Health information is disclosed to a coach before the client accepts that coach's connection request.
Apple Health information is not used for advertising, targeted advertising, marketing profiles, sale to data brokers, or unrelated data mining.
When you search for food, scan a barcode, search for an exercise, or request nutritional information, Macro Pump may send information necessary to perform that request to external food or exercise databases.
Depending on the request, these services may include:
We seek to transmit only information reasonably necessary to perform the requested lookup.
Macro Pump may process photographs or files when you choose to use features requiring them.
These may include:
Images may be resized or compressed on your device before they are stored or transmitted.
Saved-meal photographs are currently stored locally on the user's device and are not uploaded to Macro Pump's cloud database.
Coach Mode progress photographs currently added by a coach are stored locally on that coach's device and are not uploaded to Macro Pump's cloud database.
Because locally stored photographs are not maintained in Macro Pump's cloud database, they may be lost if the relevant device is lost, damaged, reset, replaced, or the application data is removed.
Pump Buddy is Macro Pump's artificial-intelligence-assisted feature.
When you choose to interact with Pump Buddy, information transmitted may include:
Macro Pump sends Pump Buddy requests through Macro Pump's backend and uses Google's Gemini API to generate responses.
Before Macro Pump first sends personal information to Google Gemini, Macro Pump will provide an appropriate disclosure identifying the third-party AI processing and request the permission required by applicable law and Apple's requirements.
You may decline to use Pump Buddy.
Macro Pump's own backend is designed not to maintain a persistent server-side transcript of Pump Buddy conversations after the applicable request is processed.
However, Google may process and retain information transmitted through the Gemini API in accordance with the Gemini API configuration, applicable service terms, legal obligations, abuse-prevention systems, and features used.
Certain requests concerning branded foods or restaurant products may use Google Search grounding. Such requests may involve additional processing or temporary retention by Google.
Macro Pump does not guarantee that information generated by Pump Buddy is accurate.
A user who chooses to use or apply for Coach Mode may provide information such as:
Macro Pump may display a checkmark, badge, symbol, status indicator, or similar visual indicator on or near a coach's profile after that coach has submitted documentation relating to personal training, fitness, certification, education, or claimed qualifications.
The badge means only that Macro Pump has received one or more documents from that coach.
The badge does not mean that Macro Pump has verified the coach.
The badge does not mean that Macro Pump has:
A document submitted through Macro Pump may be authentic, inaccurate, expired, altered, misleading, fraudulent, forged, stolen, or otherwise invalid.
Macro Pump does not represent that submission of a document establishes that the individual is a qualified personal trainer or other fitness professional.
Users must independently evaluate any coach before deciding whether to connect with, communicate with, hire, pay, meet, rely on, or follow instructions from that coach.
Macro Pump may remove, suspend, or restrict a coach profile or badge if Macro Pump becomes aware of suspected fraud, misuse, false representations, safety concerns, violations of our Terms of Use, or other circumstances warranting action. Such action does not mean that Macro Pump undertakes an ongoing duty to authenticate or monitor every coach.
Macro Pump may allow users to establish coach-client relationships through Coach Mode.
Before a coach is granted access to information protected by an in-app client authorization process, the client must affirmatively agree to establish that connection.
Depending on the features enabled, a connected coach may be able to view information including:
A client's acceptance of a coach's connection request is a single consent covering all of the categories above, including step counts; Macro Pump does not require a separate, category-specific consent step.
A client may end the coach-client connection through functionality provided by Macro Pump.
Ending a connection prevents future access through that relationship but does not necessarily erase information previously and lawfully processed, messages previously exchanged, or records that Macro Pump is legally required or permitted to retain.
A coach may create private notes concerning a linked client.
These notes may be stored in Macro Pump's backend database and are not ordinarily displayed to the client through the normal client interface.
However, applicable privacy law may provide an individual with access, correction, deletion, or other rights concerning personal information held about them.
Nothing in Macro Pump's interface or these terms is intended to remove a legal right that cannot lawfully be waived.
Messages exchanged between linked coaches and clients may be stored in Macro Pump's backend database so that messaging can operate across sessions and supported devices.
Push notifications may be used to alert users to new communications or assigned workouts.
If you permit push notifications, Macro Pump may receive and store an Apple Push Notification service device token or similar identifier necessary to deliver notifications.
You can manage notification permissions through your device settings.
Macro Pump may offer paid features using Apple's StoreKit and App Store payment systems.
Apple processes App Store payments.
Macro Pump does not receive your complete payment-card number from Apple.
Macro Pump may receive or store information necessary to determine entitlement to paid features, including:
Macro Pump does not currently use third-party advertising networks.
Macro Pump does not currently use advertising identifiers to track users across unrelated applications or websites.
Macro Pump does not sell personal information to data brokers.
Macro Pump does not use Apple Health information for advertising.
Macro Pump does not currently collect precise geographic location as part of its core services.
Macro Pump does not currently integrate third-party behavioral analytics or crash-reporting SDKs under the implementation covered by this Policy.
If these practices materially change, this Policy and applicable App Store disclosures will be updated and any required consent will be obtained before the new practice begins.
Macro Pump may use personal information to:
Macro Pump does not use HealthKit data for advertising or sell it to data brokers.
Macro Pump relies on third parties to provide portions of the service.
Apple may process information in connection with:
Google may process information in connection with:
Personal information will not be intentionally transmitted to a third-party AI provider through Pump Buddy before the disclosures and permission required by Macro Pump's AI consent flow are presented.
Supabase provides authentication, database, and related backend infrastructure used by Macro Pump.
Information stored there may include account information, fitness information, nutrition information, workout information, weight history, step information, goals, messages, coach information, coach documents, private coach notes, push tokens, and subscription status.
Macro Pump uses infrastructure hosted through DigitalOcean to operate portions of its backend, protect third-party API credentials, authenticate certain requests, apply usage limits, and relay information to certain external services.
Macro Pump may interact with FatSecret, Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, wger, Free Exercise DB, and RapidAPI/ExerciseDB to perform searches or lookups requested by users.
When a client affirmatively accepts a coach's connection request, information required to provide coaching features — including Apple Health-derived step information — may be disclosed to the connected coach as clearly described in Macro Pump. That acceptance is itself the required authorization; Macro Pump does not request separate, Health-specific authorization for this disclosure (see Section 25).
Macro Pump does not sell personal information.
Macro Pump does not sell HealthKit, fitness, nutrition, workout, AI, coach-client, or messaging information to advertising networks, data brokers, or information resellers.
Health and fitness information may be sensitive.
Macro Pump limits access to such information to functionality reasonably necessary to provide the requested fitness, nutrition, wellness, AI, and authorized coaching services.
Information obtained through HealthKit will not be disclosed to a third party except where permitted by Apple's requirements, permitted by applicable law, related to providing a health or fitness service to the user, and supported by the required user permission. For a connected coach, that required permission is the client's acceptance of the coach's connection request (see Section 25); Macro Pump does not require a second, Health-specific permission on top of that acceptance.
Macro Pump uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information in a manner appropriate to its sensitivity.
Production network communications containing personal information must use encrypted transport such as HTTPS/TLS.
Macro Pump uses authentication and database access controls intended to limit access to information.
No Internet transmission, database, mobile device, cloud system, or security measure can guarantee absolute security.
Therefore, Macro Pump cannot guarantee that information will never be lost, accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by unauthorized persons.
If Macro Pump becomes aware of a security incident involving personal information, we will investigate the incident and provide notifications where required by applicable law.
Macro Pump retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to:
Information associated with an active account may generally remain stored while the account remains active unless the user deletes the information or requests deletion where available.
Pump Buddy conversations are not intentionally maintained by Macro Pump's own backend as a persistent server-side transcript after an individual exchange is processed. This does not control retention independently performed by Google under Google's applicable service terms.
Information processed using third-party services may be retained by those providers for periods governed by their contractual terms, security requirements, legal obligations, and applicable service configuration.
Macro Pump will periodically review retention practices and will not intentionally retain personal information longer than reasonably necessary for identified purposes.
Macro Pump provides users with a method to initiate deletion of their account from within the app.
Account deletion is different from uninstalling Macro Pump or clearing locally stored information.
When a valid account-deletion request is completed, Macro Pump will delete or de-identify personal information associated with the account from active systems unless retention of particular information is required or permitted by applicable law.
Certain limited information may be retained when necessary for:
Residual information may remain temporarily within backups until those backups are overwritten or expire under applicable backup schedules.
Information retained solely within backups will not be returned to ordinary active use solely because an account was deleted.
If an account uses Sign in with Apple, Macro Pump will perform applicable Sign in with Apple token-revocation procedures as part of account deletion.
Deleting a Macro Pump account does not necessarily cancel an Apple App Store subscription. Users should separately manage active subscriptions through Apple.
Depending on the feature, users may:
Withdrawal of permission may prevent Macro Pump from providing a feature that requires the relevant information.
Withdrawal does not invalidate processing lawfully performed before the withdrawal.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
Rights may be subject to legal limitations and exceptions.
Macro Pump may take reasonable steps to verify the identity of a person making a privacy request.
Requests can be sent to mymacropump@gmail.com.
Where Canadian private-sector privacy law applies, Macro Pump is committed to principles of accountability, identified purposes, meaningful consent, collection limitation, limited use and retention, accuracy, safeguards, openness, access, correction, and mechanisms to challenge compliance.
Macro Pump will designate a person responsible for privacy compliance.
Users may contact mymacropump@gmail.com with privacy questions, access requests, correction requests, deletion requests, or complaints.
Some service providers used by Macro Pump may process information outside the country or province in which you live.
As a result, personal information may become subject to the laws and lawful-access requirements of another jurisdiction.
Where legally required, Macro Pump will use appropriate contractual, organizational, or other lawful mechanisms for cross-border processing.
Macro Pump is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older.
Macro Pump does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a user under 13 has provided personal information, we will take steps to suspend the account and delete the information, subject to applicable law.
Users between 13 and the age of majority in their jurisdiction (commonly 18) may use Macro Pump only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms and this Privacy Policy on the minor's behalf and is responsible for supervising the minor's use of the app, including any coaching relationship formed through Coach Mode.
Parents or guardians who believe a child under 13 has created an account, or who have questions about a minor's use of Macro Pump, may contact mymacropump@gmail.com.
Macro Pump may update this Privacy Policy when the service, technology, service providers, business practices, or legal requirements change.
Material changes will be communicated in a manner appropriate to the circumstances and as required by law.
Where a new use of sensitive information requires new consent, Macro Pump will request that consent rather than relying solely on an old version of this Policy.
The date at the top identifies when this Policy was most recently revised.
